Primus has launched a YouTube series to document their drummer audition process, titled “Primus Interstellar Drum Derby”.
The band received submissions from drummers worldwide after longtime drummer Tim ‘Herb’ Alexander announced his departure last year.
The band and emphasized the importance of groove and musical conversation during the auditions, which ended with John Hoffman getting the gig.
Primus will perform at Tool’s “Live In The Sand” event with Danny Carey on drums before embarking on the “Sessanta” tour.
